Portsmouth and Solent Training Alliance

The Course

Our lead school has achieved Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ status in its last three Ofsted reports demonstrating our high expectations for our School Direct initial teacher training. We consistently achieve a 100% pass rate and all trainees successfully gain employment in schools. In November 2018 our teacher training programme also achieved an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ grade.

The Portsmouth and Solent Training Alliance (PSTA) mission is ‘By schools, for schools, for Portsmouth’. We achieve this mission by recruiting and retaining the best graduates who will have the opportunity to inspire the next generation and help them realise their ambitions.

Trainee teachers choose us because we have an excellent reputation and offer personalised support. Our expert trainers have all been teachers and have years of experience. Trainees are attracted to training predominately in school underpinned with our first-rate training days.

Trainees value our ‘personal approach’ and the support we offer from initial application queries right through to supporting their Early Career Framework (ECF) year.

On successful completion you will achieve a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with the option of 60 Master Credits and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

We believe in a continuum of professional development and support trainees beyond their training year through to leadership. We are a key member of the Portsmouth Education Partnership (PEP) working with the Local Authority and schools to focus on school improvement to get the best outcomes for our children.
